Ikat cushions

Our range of beautiful cushions uses the famed Japanese kasuri technique, called ikat in other cultures. Each weaver has its own style and character: traditional indigo dyes give these cream and blue cushions from the Yamamura workshop a natural vibrancy that is striking to look at while always being subtle and almost minimalistic, and natural persimmon dye adds a reddish-brown rustic hue to these cushions from the Kittaka workshop.  Perfect as bed or couch cushions, these ikat cushion covers are a unique and modern take on traditional Japanese textiles.

Geometric cushions

The geometric designs of these kimono fabrics seem incredibly abstract and contemporary while the blurred edges that result from the kasuri technique soften these patterned cushions and add a subtle and sophisticated element. As well as our geometric cushion covers, you’ll find a range of other unique designs.

Japanese cushion covers

Using traditional techniques lends our cushions a distinctly Japanese feel. Most of our kasuri fabric comes in kohaba width or the standard with of a kimono sleeve. So our “Amatsubu” inset cushion, for example, uses the fabric only around the border for an unusual design. But paired with high quality linens and velvets these cushions will fit into any home.
