The name comes from \u003cem\u003edaifukumochi \u003c\/em\u003ewhich are filled mochi balls which are then slightly squashed into the same pressed circular shape. These have delicate well-sculpted feet to raise them off the surface too. Not only is the surface covered in Matsumoto san's signature woodgrain, but it is then intentionally damaged and holed (There is a separate internal divider which means no water will leak from the vase).
