Shinogi Katakuchi with Spout

The shinogi carving is wonderfully tactile when using this katakuchi sake pourer (seen here paired with the shinogi choko), and unusually it has a petite covered spout rather than an open spout.

Meet the Maker:

Fukushima Kiln

Fukushima san's work features swirling hand-carved indentations called shinogi.

Whether they remind you of ripples in the water, flowers or maybe the ripples in sand dunes, they are incredibly tactile and satisfying to touch.

Fukushima san prefers a bright white body, but our taste leans towards the pieces more flecked with yellow and grey.
