Suzuki san grew up in a tangerine farming family, but farming life is hard and he took a job in a bookshop. While at the bookshop he decided to turn his hand to pottery and he read all the ceramics books in the bookshop before leaving to set up Kobo Daidai!
The bright blue/green glaze is made from tangerine tree ash and the silvery white glaze is made from an indigenous Japanese tree call Isunoki. Suzuki san lives a few minutes from the ocean and his glaze is inspired by the greys and blues of the sea and how they swirl with the ripples and waves on the surface.
