Paper-thin and feather-light, these lacquered bowls are first turned by hand and then shaped in hot water by gently pinching. Each shape is slightly different and the pinching of the bowls can result in a slight wobble to the bowl giving it a life of its own. These are food safe, but people outside Japan generally use these as decorative objects. However you use them, make sure to touch and hold them to remind yourself how beautifully made they are.
