The graduated squares working their way across this plate make it slightly hypnotic, but you are then distracted by the pool of fiery blue glaze in the centre. This is hard to make and not one of Suzuki san's favourites, but the end result is spectacular!

Meet the Maker:
Kobo Daidai
Suzuki san has mastered the bright blue citrus ash crackle glaze which shimmers on his pieces like the waves on Tokyo Bay, which you can glimpse from his tiny studio in Kanagawa just South of Tokyo.
His pottery studio has more guitars in it than ceramics, becuase he loves to tinker with them and mend them in his spare time.
