Another pair of lovely sculpted sake chokos from Hiraoka san, the slightly off-kilter geometric design is very attractive. The tactile combination of the glossy karatsu or gosu glaze and the rough unglazed clay on the foot is delightful!

Hiraoka Jin

Hiraoka san's work has a sculptural roughness to it and is often combined with a crackle glaze for maximum effect - or with one of the vibrant blue wood ash glazes which is becoming a signature of his.

Hiraoka san is great company, chatting about football, cars or dogs, and his cheerful demeanour comes through in his hand-made ceramics.
