Just about large enough to use as a fruit bowl, this bowl can also be used for salads as well as a statement centrepiece. You can see the rough dark clay at the foot of the bowl and the contrast between the streaks of warabai glaze and the fiery blue is quite striking.

Hiraoka Jin

Hiraoka san's work has a sculptural roughness to it and is often combined with a crackle glaze for maximum effect - or with one of the vibrant blue wood ash glazes which is becoming a signature of his.

Hiraoka san is great company, chatting about football, cars or dogs, and his cheerful demeanour comes through in his hand-made ceramics.
