The organic shape, the rich browns and the rough edge mean that some people mistake these for wooden plates. Yanase-san enjoys this organic tactile feel and he is developing his own style.
These are great for salads, cheese, desserts - the brown glaze complements all sorts of things.

Meet the Maker:
Yanase Tobo
We only found Yanase san because of a single rice bowl we saw in an Echizen "michi-no-eki". We used a spare afternoon to track him down and we have worked together ever since.
His Donten glaze is particularly popular and we have expanded the range to include ramen bowls and sushi plates. Still working from his parents' house, he has managed to complete projects for restaurants and designers across the world.
