LASSCO & Maltby Street Market
From the 6th to the 9th of December we’re proud to have a pop-up shop at Lassco's Ropewalk location. Lassco Ropewalk is famed for its eclectic modern salvage selection but it has also hosted the now famous Maltby Street Market since its creation in 2010. We're delighted to join the market by offering hot sake and food during the late-night market on Friday.
A match made in heaven
With a passion for connecting designers and architects with beautiful reclaimed pieces to turn into something new and inspiring, Lassco are our ideal collaborators. Architectural salvage is unknown in Japan, but it has a curious similarity to much of Japanese aesthetics. It values many of the same things as wabi-sabi: the rough patina associated with decades or even centuries of use and the peculiar beauty that brings, but also the idea of mottainai - to reuse, recycle, repurpose. Lassco has been doing this since before it was trendy and their eye is the best in the business.
Whether you’re inspired to turn something old into something new at Lassco’s timber yard and warehouse or simply want to see your favourite ingredients turned into something new and delicious, you can find us serving up our own hot sake and food on Friday night. Maltby Street Market is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit from a spot of Christmas shopping in the Modern Salvage shop to the arch bars offering treats and drinks.
Find us at the market
The market is open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 4pm Sunday while the Friday night market is open from 4pm to 9.30pm. The shop is a few arches from the South end of the market on Matlby Street itself.
