Turquoise seems to be Hagiwara san's colour this year, and it is a very unusual colour for Japanese ceramics, especially when set against his black and gold glazed items. This style reminds some people of gentle ripples on water or the bright turquoise of the sea lapping on the bright sand of the Fukuoka beaches, for whatever reason it is proving to be a very popular colour.
