Katakuchi

£6800

A miniature katakuchi, with only enough capacity for two sake cups or so, depending on the size of your cups. But it could also be used for all sorts of sauces and dressings. It is a lovely bright green, with the white slashes fading into purple along the edges

  • Hand-thrown and wood-fired in his noborigama by Hagiwara san in the village of Mashiko in Central Japan
  • 6.0cm High, 8.0cm Wide, 11.0cm Long

Care Guide

Like all tableware and handmade homewares, our products should be used with some degree of care to help keep them looking good. These are wood-fired and Hagiwara san recommends hand-washing and not putting in the dishwasher or microwave.

Meet the Maker:

Hagiwara Yoshinori

Hagiwara Yoshinori is the fifth generation of the Hagiwara family ceramic workshop. He is very keen on preparing clays and glazes in his garden from the local resources by himself.
He uses a variety of kilns and is an incurable kiln collector but he particularly likes his Noborigama climbing kiln that he built. With the knowledge gained through his experience firing the Noborigama, he is called “the god of Noborigama” by other local potters.
He often uses colourful and interesting glazes to complement his skilful making.
