Care Guide

Like all tableware and handmade homewares, our products should be used with some degree of care to help keep them looking good. Even though these are fired at 1250 degrees Centigrade, there is not a high proportion of stone in the clay, so these are between earthenware and stoneware. Earthenware by its nature is less resilient than porcelain, so we recommend using metal cutlery gently, but they are dishwasher safe.

These are all food safe and conform to BS6748:1986 + A1:2011 (Toxic Metal Release)

Meet the Maker:

Oumei Kamamoto

The Onimaru family run the Oumei Kamamoto kiln on Kyūshū island in South-Western Japan. Many of their works have the characteristic tobikanna chisel decoration of the Koishiwarayaki and Ontayaki regional styles but the Onimaru family also use quite a rough clay to add even more texture. The roughness
of the clay and the indentations of the tobikanna add beautiful depth to the rice husk ash glaze.
