Lovely medium blue indigo with the slightly grey pattern gives a soft blurry feel to this kasuri cushion. Bingo used to be famous for brightly coloured fabrics, but the Kittaka family have gone back to basics with this fun combination of patterns. Please remember that all the cushions are different because of the variation in the pattern.

Meet the Maker:

Kittaka Orimono

Hiroshima prefecture covers the old feudal domain of Bingo, which used to specialise in very colourful kasuri weaving and dying. That industry has pretty much disappeared and the only survivor is the Kittaka weaving company who produce a heavier cotton kasuri.

The also used to weave with persimmon dyed cotton, with a lovely warm rusty colour, but that too has know sadly died out as the supplier of traditional persimmon dye has shut up shop.
