Multi-Pattern Persimmon Cushion (45cm x 45cm)

£11000

This item will have to be made for you, which can take up to 5 weeks

This traditional Japanese kasuri fabric has the orange of the persimmon running through the weft and the indigo through the warp, giving a very soft and gentle look to the fabric which contrasts nicely with the mixed geometric patterns.

Please remember that all the cushions are different because of the variation in the pattern.

  • 45cm x 45cm. Mixed natural and synthetic indigo and persimmon dyed cushion, complete with a feather and down pad (85/15%), velvet backed and piped (see our Care Guide)
  • 100% Kasuri dyed cotton, from the Kittaka workshop near Hiroshima, Western Japan
  • Cushion covers and pads made in the UK
Meet the Maker:

Kittaka Bingo Gasuri

We went to Hiroshima expecting to find colourful Bingo style kasuri, but instead we came across the Kittaka workshop who primarily work in blue and white only. The exception is their use of persimmon, which is used as a natural orange dye.

They are the only remaining commercial weaver using persimmon yarn that we can find and the soft rusty tones of the persimmon make their fabric very popular for lampshades.
