Meet the Maker:

Oumei Kamamoto

The Onimaru family run the Oumei Kamamoto kiln on Kyūshū island in South-Western Japan. Many of their works have the characteristic tobikanna chisel decoration of the Koishiwarayaki and Ontayaki regional styles but the Onimaru family also use quite a rough clay to add even more texture. The roughness
of the clay and the indentations of the tobikanna add beautiful depth to the rice husk ash glaze.
