Shibori is an ancient dying process where the cloth is squeezed, knotted, twisted or folded before dying to make a huge variety of patterns. Arimatsu Chosei uses the Itajime technique where the cloth is folded and then clamped before dying to make beautiful geometric patterns. The folding itself is a labrious process but then the indigo dying is equally time consuming.
