Matsumoto Kurogi Daifuku Vase
In the best way possible, these vases are the product of Matsumoto san's strange imagination! The name comes from daifukumochi which are filled mochi balls which are then slightly squashed into the same pressed circular shape. These have delicate well-sculpted feet to raise them off the surface too. Not only is the surface covered in Matsumoto san's signature woodgrain, but it is then intentionally damaged and holed (There is a separate internal divider which means no water will leak from the vase). This lends an air of decay to these vases which contrasts with the rather luxurious sheen of gold from the manganese glaze.
