Medium Elliptical Shinogi Mimi Vase

£18000

This vase is narrow enough to sit on a bookcase or mantlepiece, and the swirling shinogi pattern brings it alive. Fukushima san's addition of two little ears on the shoulders gives it even more presence and the narrow top makes it easy to arrange flowers, but it looks great on its own too!
    • 13cm Long, 9cm Wide, 20cm High
    • Stoneware (see our Care Guide)
    • Hand thrown and decorated by Fukushima san at the Fukushima Kiln in Mashiko in Eastern Japan.

    Meet the Maker:

    Fukushima Kiln

Fukushima san's work features swirling hand-carved indentations called shinogi. Whether they remind you of ripples in the water, flowers or maybe the ripples in sand dunes, they are incredibly tactile and satisfying to touch. Fukushima san prefers a bright white body, but our taste leans towards the pieces more flecked with yellow and grey.
