Rounded Octagonal Kohiki Choko

From the top these look round, but when you pick them up, you realise the sides have been carved and sculpted. The rough dark clay threatens to push through the irregular kohiki glaze, making a tactile and engaging guinomi.

Hiraoka Jin

Hiraoka san's work has a sculptural roughness to it and is often combined with a crackle glaze for maximum effect - or with one of the vibrant blue wood ash glazes which is becoming a signature of his.

Hiraoka san is great company, chatting about football, cars or dogs, and his cheerful demeanour comes through in his hand-made ceramics.
