This traditional Japanese kasuri fabric has the orange of the persimmon running through the weft and the indigo through the warp. Persimmon dyeing is even rarer than indigo, and gives a lovely soft tone to the light.
This pattern combines all the popular patterns that Kittaka does. So any shade can have different combinations on. If you see one you would particularly like, let us know and we can make sure you get what you want!

Kittaka Bingo Gasuri
We went to Hiroshima expecting to find colourful Bingo style kasuri, but instead we came across the Kittaka workshop who primarily work in blue and white only. The exception is their use of persimmon, which is used as a natural orange dye.
They are the only remaining commercial weaver using persimmon yarn that we can find and the soft rusty tones of the persimmon make their fabric very popular for lampshades.
